Getting Around
Moving around the island
Saint Lucia is small but mountainous, so the trip between towns takes longer than the map suggests. From cheap minibuses to taxis, ride-share apps and rental cars, here are your options and what to expect.
Good to know: most flights land at Hewanorra (UVF) in the far south, about 90 minutes from the resorts in the north. Plan your first transfer before you arrive.
- BusesCheapestGreen-plate minibuses on set routes from Castries and Vieux Fort. A few EC dollars, local and lively. Explore every route on the map.
- TaxisMost flexibleDoor to door, day or night. Not metered, so agree the fare before you set off. The simplest way to and from the airport.
- Ride ShareApp basedUber launched on the island in 2026, alongside the Caribbean app Allez. Request a licensed driver from your phone, strongest in the north.
- RentalsFreedomHire a car to reach the Pitons, rainforest and quiet beaches at your own pace. Remember a temporary permit and driving on the left.
